Dr. Naomi Brahim

Biographical Sketch

 

Naomi Brahim, Ed.D. is currently leading the work of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) in Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) in Louisville, KY.  She is a former teacher, counselor, and leader of counselors in the school district. 

 

Dr. Brahim has worked in multiple settings including high achieving, persistently low achieving, alternative school, and district office settings.  She has worked at the university level as an adjunct professor in the education program at Spalding University. 

 

She is credited with the creation of MTSS toolkits that increase classroom engagement through the use of research based high-yield instructional practices used throughout her school district.  She integrated the work of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Restorative Practices (RP) for district-wide roll out and implementation.  She has experience coordinating behavior systems work, responsive behavior supports, as well as special education programming. 

 

Dr. Brahim is past chair of the Southern Region in the American Counseling Association, past president of the Kentucky Counseling Association, and past vice president of the Kentucky School Counseling Association.  She designed a mentoring leadership academy program to prepare and train future leaders in the counseling field that she leads for the Kentucky Counseling Association.  She has degrees/certifications from the University of Louisville, University of the Cumberlands, and Indiana University Southeast.  Dr. Brahim has presented at local, state, and international conferences on various interdisciplinary topics.
